Ladder Stopper

(less than 10 seconds to put in place and could save your life)

Boddingtons Electrical are pleased to announce the latest product to add to their extensive range of safety goods. The Boddingtons Stopper is a ladder stabilizer which comes in 4 sizes and is a top quality aluminium T piece bonded into an 11mm vulcanized rubber base complete with a 2mm tread top and bottom – designed for extra grip even in the wet.

The Boddingtons Stopper allows the weight of the ladder and its user to be spread over a larger area. The user is safer on 2 square feet than 2 square inches. The ladder is kept in place by friction at its point of contact. If this friction is overcome by the load on the ladder then it slips with very little warning – sometimes with fatal consequences. In normal use, the ladders two very small areas come into contact with the ground and all the weight of the ladder and its user is concentrated on these two points. Consequently, the rubber feet of the ladder wear away very quickly.

This product, unique to the market, has been tried and tested on various surfaces such as wet and dry floors, wet grass, painted concrete sprinkled with fine sanding, polished floors, etc by Leeds Polytechnic. They concluded that this product would greatly enhance the stability of ladders.

The Boddingtons Stopper:

BT, a multi billion pound company employs a very large workforce of telecom engineers each in effect is a lone worker – literally one person, one van, one ladder ... and one stopper! 5 years ago BT supplied each engineer with a ladder stabilizer – the Stopper.

After careful research over this time, BT not only found that ladder accidents have been cut by nearly 50% through using the Stopper, but there were also 2000 less “sick leave” days taken per year.

Due to be applied in 2004 the UK work at Height Regulations and Guidance notes will recommend the use of anti slip devices and stabilizers as an alternative if it isn’t possible to secure the ladder to a solid structure or building. For further details telephone 01371 876496.
