Electrical Safety Dielectric Insulating Boots 1000V

The Dielectric Boot is electrically insulating footwear designed to give added protection to personnel where there is a risk of electric shock either due to working or contact with live power lines.

The Dielectric Boot is an insulating boot to give added protection against electric shock, capable of withstanding over 35kV on the sole and 20kV on the complete boot. Dielectric boots are extensively tested and conform to, or surpass, a wide range of International standards including the European standard for live working EN50321, EN345 as well as the ASTM F2413-05, ASTM F1117-93, CSA Z195-02 standards.

All Dielectric boots are fitted with a unique oil resistant vulcanized rubber sole that gives excellent slip, wear and cut resistance. The Dielectric boot has a 200 joule steel toe cap and conforms to EN345 and EN ISO20345 safety footwear standards. Every Dielectric boot is tested to EN50321 before leaving the factory.

Electrical power plays an important role in modern society. We take it for granted and rarely think that it is dangerous but contact with electric current can cause serious injury and or death. Protection from accidental contact with live equipment and conductors is important for those exposed to electrocution risk. Electric shock resistant boots provide protection because their insulating properties stop current from being grounded.

Testing to EN 50321 - This European Standard covers electrically insulating footwear for the protection of personnel working on or near electrical installations. Boots are tested to ensure that they can withstand 10,000V without puncturing and also to check that current flow does not exceed 5mA when a 5000V potential is applied. They are certified for use up to 1000V AC and 1500V DC (class 0). The red double triangle symbol identifies the boots. The class (0), batch number and date of manufacture are also stated.

Electrical Safety Dielectric Boot 1000VThe tread provides good grip with good release properties - important for avoiding build-up of materials like salt contaminated conductive mud. The sole and upper compounds are approved for use in food production facilities. The uppers are yellow and the soles blue. The steel toecap provides extra protection from impact.


NB: Do not confuse antistatic and conductive footwear with electric shock-resistant footwear. It is the electrically insulating properties of Boddingtons HV Dielectric boots that protect workers. Antistatic footwear and conductive footwear do the opposite (they conduct electricity).
