Can you remember back to when you received your exam results?
Most likely you had to wait nervously by the front door until the postman slipped them through your letterbox. Nowadays, restless kids stumble to their secondary schools and are handed their results before tearing up that brown envelope in whatever quiet corner of the playground they hid in. With their exam results in their grasp, school leavers will walk out of school with the future quite literally in their hands - and it can be hard to know exactly what you want to do with your life at just 16 years old!
For most teenagers, the decision lies between university or a job. Following Government actions to invest into promoting apprenticeships, there has been a rise in the amount of young people registering to become an apprentice. There was over 1.4 million applications for apprenticeships in 2013 and over 850,000 people actually working and earning on apprenticeships in a 170 industries.
Particularly popular for school leavers, is electrical maintenance! In 2015 - 2016, installation electrician and maintenance electrician were rated the 5th most popular apprenticeship subject. With the increase in popularity of electrical apprenticeships, suppliers of electrical tools and safety gear will see a spike in sales - particularly around September/October time! After picking up their results at the end of August, teenagers will start applying for their apprenticeships and go through the interview process. If they are accepted onto the apprenticeship scheme, they will need to be prepared for working on potentially dangerous sites. That’s where you come in!
As a supplier, you will be the first people these apprentices turn to when they are buying their tools and safety gear. For their own peace of mind, they will want high quality products that will protect them against electrical shocks and electrocution.
