Overhead line shrouding manufactured from yellow U.V. resistant material to EA43-103 standard and suitable for up to 1000 volts protection. Bodtect overhead line shroud has been designed for ease of installation on overhead lines and conductors whilst offering complete protection. Overhead line shrouding is supplied as standard in 3 metre lengths and standard sizes 22mm, 32mm, and 45mm internal diameter. Other shroud sizes are available upon request.
Overhead line shrouding is used by regional electricity companies (DNO's) personnel when providing protection for third parties working in proximity to live low voltage conductors.
Shrouding - Temporary Protection From Overhead Lines
If you are planning to work near overhead power lines or cables connected to a property, make sure you are able to work safely by placing temporary protective overhead line covering (also known as shrouding) over the power lines. Shrouding involves covering the power lines with a material that electricity cannot pass through. DNO's and contractors temporarily shroud overhead lines and services running into buildings and properties to permit nearby working e.g. for scaffolding erection, fascia repairs and painting work on domestic properties.
Notes - Shrouding Overhead Lines
Always assume overhead lines or wires are live unless advised otherwise in writing from DNO
Local DNO can confirm the type and voltage of the overhead lines - power or telephone lines are often confused
It is technically impossible to shroud overhead lines, so if working near to high voltage overhead lines it is recommended to request electrical safety advise from local DNO
