Compliance Standards
IEC 61482-2 – Arc Flash Protection
- APC 1 (Arc Protection Class 1): Certified to protect against arc flash energy of up to 4 kA (using box test method).
- ATPV 12 cal/cm²: Arc Thermal Performance Value—indicates the level of incident energy the garment can withstand before causing second-degree burns.
ISO 11612 – Protection Against Heat & Flame
- A: Limited flame spread (method A1 or A2)
- B1: Protection against convective heat (3 levels, B1 being the lowest)
- C1: Protection against radiant heat (3 levels, C1 being the lowest)
- F1: Protection against contact heat
ISO 11611 – Protection for Use in Welding & Allied Processes
- Class 1: Suitable for less hazardous welding situations; protects against spatter, short contact with flame, and low radiant heat.
EN 1149-5 – Electrostatic Properties
- Ensures the garment prevents build-up of static electricity, helping reduce the risk of sparks in explosive environments.
NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the Workplace (U.S. standard)
- Defines PPE requirements based on arc flash hazard risk categories (12 cal/cm² aligns with Category 2).
- Focuses on minimizing workplace injuries due to electrical hazards.
ASTM F1959 – Arc Flash Testing Standard
- Specifies the testing method used to determine the ATPV or EBT (Energy Breakopen Threshold) of flame-resistant clothing.
