CAT'ADVANCED WELD Molds for Cross connections
CATU CAT'ADVANCED WELD - CEW-X Exothermic Weld
A Cross Mold is a precision graphite mold used in exothermic welding to create a cross-shaped joint between two conductors. This type of mold is designed to permanently bond two cables or conductors that intersect at 90°, forming a strong, low-resistance, and durable connection.
Standards compliancy:
- IEEE 837 - UL 467
Key features and functions
- Material: Made from high-quality, heat-resistant graphite, ensuring repeated use under extreme temperatures generated during the exothermic reaction.
- Joint Type: Produces a T-shaped connection, typically used when tapping a secondary cable, earthing conductor, or grounding rod off a main line.
- Precision Design: Ensures proper conductor alignment and a consistent, high-quality weld every time.
- Reusable: With correct care, molds can be used multiple times before requiring replacement.
- Applications: Commonly used in earthing, lightning protection, and grounding networks where multiple paths need to be bonded together securely.
Advantages of Cross Mold Connections
- Creates a molecular bond between conductors, stronger than mechanical connections.
- Excellent electrical conductivity with virtually no added resistance.
- Long-lasting and maintenance-free connection that will not loosen, corrode, or degrade.
- Ensures compliance with international grounding and bonding standards.
Available sizes
- Primary conductor in mm² - 25-120mm²
- Secondary conductor in mm² - 25-120mm²
